One premature question though. Where does this leave plain curiosity?

you mean, curiosity as a trigger for social interaction? Hmmm I guess technically it comes before the 'reciprocal attribution and avowal' of identities.
But curiosity alone wouldn't make interaction possible... and perhaps curiosity can only arise when I'm assuming to come across 'others'? (No use to be curious about things when everything´s indistinguishable from each other and myself)
